Trekker Newsletter Shuts Down
Online publication ends after three years and 64 issues
The Trekker Newsletter, which has entertained readers since July 1999, is shutting down after 64 issues. The announcement was made by the online publication's owner, Benjamin Winn, in the newsletter's final issue.
"It has been very exciting for me the past few years to publish The Trekker Newsletter, although I am afraid it is now time for TTN and me to move on," Winn said. "I have thought about this off and on this last year having to discontinue this newsletter. My life simply has become like a rollercoaster and I'm sure it will be like this for a long time to come."
When the newsletter started in 1999, it had only 50 subscribers, Winn said.
Winn, who is a past contributor to Airlock Alpha, is operating a new Web site called TV Orbit, and will continue to write for the Sci-Fi Guys Newsletter.
"Thank you all for enjoying The Trekker Newsletter and the effort I have put into the publication for all of the previous three years," Winn said. "Most of all, I would like to say thank you to Gene Roddenberry for starting one of the most wonderful television creations of all time."
