St. Louis Loses 'Enterprise?'
No UPN affiliate, and now no special first-run syndication rights?
If you live in St. Louis and enjoy watching "Enterprise" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," you might have to wait until next spring before you can start watching the series again.
Bill Lanesey, general manager of The WB affiliate station KPLR that would air special first-run syndicated episodes of the series, wouldn't comment on a report UPN sources gave to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that said his station has no intention of renewing its agreement with UPN to air the show.
The two shows will have a home in St. Louis by next April when WHSL switches from being an affiliate of the Home Shopping Network to becoming UPN 46. WHSL's general manager Gregg Filandrinos said that he has asked HSN to allow the station to air "Buffy" and "Enterprise" before the changeover, but that doesn't seem likely.
"UPN is shopping the shows around to other stations, hoping to find someone to pick them up," Filandrinos said, although he said that prospects look bleak of the series being picked up by another network before fall.
Since UPN does not reach across every market, it has allowed affiliate stations in markets without a UPN affiliate to carry programming, most recently "Enterprise" and "Buffy." This airs in first-run syndication, and usually airs within two weeks from its original broadcast on UPN.
