Archer Father Of Federation?
SPOILERS: Get your first peek at the second season premiere of ENT
TrekWeb recently received some details about the upcoming Season 2 premiere of "Enterprise" that concludes the cliffhanger that left Capt. Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) overlooking a destroyed San Francisco in the 31st century.
Please note that the following report contains major spoilers and has not been confirmed by Paramount Pictures, so it's subject to change.
As Archer and his future partner, Crewman Daniels, travel the destroyed city, Daniels apparently is looking for some kind of monument. After asking some women in a camp, he realizes that the monument was never built.
Archer learns that the monument that Daniels is looking for stood for a "Federation" that doesn't yet exist in Archer's timeline. That's all Daniels will share about the Federation as they make their way to a library and find paper books (something Daniels says also shouldn't be there).
They look through the books and Archer informs Daniels that he hasn't found a single reference to the Federation, and Daniels said that he shouldn't expect to -- after all, the captain "wasn't there."
