One of the most daring genre shows coming from a network this year has to be the new post-apocalyptic show from "Supernatural's" Eric Kripke -- "Revolution" on NBC.

And if you want to really see what this show will be like when it debuts in September, you'll have to be watching NBC's coverage of the Summer Olympic Games in London.

On Aug. 4, NBC will reveal six minutes of the show's pilot to air around 10:54 p.m. ET. This, according to the network, will directly follow the Olympic swimming competition that is expected to include U.S. gold medalist swimmer Michael Phelps.

It's part of a rather large cross-platform effort NBC is doing ahead of its fall schedule this year, hoping to get a ratings boost from Olympics coverage and pull the network out of deep fourth place.

This year's freshman lineup has already earned some early accolades from critics and observers, but now NBC has to bring in the audience to support it.

The network isn't limiting samples to just television, however. It's also offering sneak peeks of a number of its shows on cable and satellite, as well as online sources like NBC.com, Hulu, Apple's iTunes Store, Amazon and Xbox.

"Revolution" will make its preview premiere in many of those places beginning Sept. 4, getting ready for its fall premiere Sept. 17.

"Revolution" depicts a world that has had no electricity for more than a decade. With executive producer J.J. Abrams, the series stars Billy Burke, recent Emmy nominee Giancarlo Esposito and Tracy Spiridakos.

Esposito recently earned his Emmy nomination for AMC's "Breaking Bad," but has also appeared in the first season of ABC's "Once Upon a Time."
