If Leonard Nimoy is going to appear in "Star Trek 2," here's hoping he's already shot his scenes.

Filming for "Star Trek 2" ended Tuesday after nearly four months of shooting, according to TrekMovie. Roberto Orci, one of the writers of the film, made the statement simple on Twitter: "And ... that's a wrap!"

Actors and crew have been filming the new movie since January, which includes returning cast of Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, as well as some new faces like Alice Eve and Benedict Cumberbatch. Despite heavy security on the set, pictures were leaked of filming within days of it starting in January, and it seems that some of the primary new characters -- including the bad guys -- have also been revealed.

Yet, there is still no word on what the official title of the new film is going to be, or really what any of the plot is about. It could be months before fans get hint of either, and we likely won't even see a trailer for the film until late fall.

Director J.J. Abrams will now have more than a year to do post-production, although he won't be spending all of his time doing that. A lot of post-production work, like special effects, have already begun at Industrial Light & Magic, according to TrekMovie, and film editors have been at work with dailies since filming started. Musical work, like Michael Giacchino's score, will begin later this year or early next year, once a final cut of the film is in sight.

This will now free up Abrams to start work on other projects -- he has more than a dozen in some form of development, according to Internet Movie Database. One of those projects include "Boilerplate," a science-fiction action film about a 19th century robot used by historical figures based on the graphic novel by Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett.

"Boilerplate" is in script phase right now, with Patrick McKay and John D. Payne developing the story, and Randall Jahnson writing the screenplay.

Pine can now start to focus on his next project, which is expected to be the revival of the Jack Ryan character in a new set of films based on the Tom Clancy character. His next film, "People Like Us" directed by "Star Trek 2" writer Alex Kurtzman, will be released next month.

Quinto is set to play George Gershwin in a biopic from Steven Spielberg. But he's also looking to wear his producer cap a lot more, taking on a number of projects like a romantic comedy set just after Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana called "Imperial Palace" as well as a "Lucid," based on the graphic novel by Neal Dodson.

"Star Trek 2" is set for release May 17, 2013.
