With Syfy happy with what it got in its superpower drama "Alphas," the cable channel decided to go back to its creators for more.

What they got is a new series that just received a greenlight to film a two-hour pilot. Called "Rewind," the action thriller comes from "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chin-Li" writer Justin Marks. It focuses on an elite team of military operatives and scientists who have to travel in time to change history, all in an effort to avoid a terrorist attack in their own time period.

This is the second time Syfy has worked with the BermanBraun production company following "Alphas," which was one of Syfy's strongest scripted series last year.

BermanBraun, from Gail Berman (the former head of Fox Broadcasting Co. and Paramount Pictures) and Lloyd Braun (the man credited for sacrificing his job as head of ABC to get "Lost" made), have already made it big in the Internet world. The company runs Wonderwall, which in partnership with Microsoft, averages 14 million unique users per month, according to a news release. The company is adding additional sites with AOL in 2012 that focus on weather, pets and men.

"Rewind" is expected to go before the cameras by April, but no casting has been announced quite yet. Berman and Braun will be joined in the executive producer ranks by Tom Spezialy and Gene Stein. Spezialy was a producer on shows like "Dead Like Me," "Reaper" and "Chuck." Stein is an executive producer with "Alphas," but also worked on "The Cape" and "The Geena Davis Show."

Marks is the one that really has to show his stuff in all this. "Street Fighter" had the likes of "Smallville's" Kristen Kreuk and "Armageddon's" Michael Clarke Duncan, yet was only able to make back $8.7 million of its $50 million budget. He is, however, one of the writers of David Fincher's adaptation of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo," which is set for a 2013 release.
