Blalock Talks 'Enterprise'
Actress discusses nearly turning down her role as T'Pol
"Enterprise's" Jolene Blalock (Sub-commander T'Pol) appeared on Howard Stern's radio talk show last Friday. Blalock admitted she nearly turned down the role of T'Pol.
"[I was going to turn it down] before I knew it was a prequel. Before I knew it was a younger cast. I mean, who wants to be going 'beam me up!' you know?", she stated.
Blalock was asked if "Enterprise" wasn't a good job and she agreed it was a great place to work but said the other shows were not. "Would you want to be on Deep Space Nine or Voyager, which I personally never watched?"
She explained that "Enterprise" was different from the other series. "It's a younger cast. A lot of the people that are on Star Trek get type-casted and they can't do anything else. This time I get to be someone completely different, I don't look like myself which means I'm not going to never work again."
Unlike most of her fellow actors on the series, Blalock has yet to appear at a Star Trek convention and admitted, "I don't know anything about them. I don't know what to expect and people keep telling me like, 'oh, it's freaky and you have to stand up there and sing for half an hour' or something and I'm like, 'oh my god, I can't sing, what am I gonna do!' And so, yeah, I don't know what I'm going to do there."
