'Ender's Game' Finds Its Han Solo

Harrison Ford, Abigail Breslin sign on to Orson Scott Card adaptation

Looks like "Ender's Game" is really getting into the big time now. Well, as long as there are no refrigerators to climb into inside a nuclear bomb test site.

Harrison Ford, best known for his roles as Indiana Jones and Star Wars' Han Solo, has joined the cast of Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game." Ford will play Col. Hyrum Graff, the leader of a battle school that first notes the abilities of student Ender Wiggin, played by "Hugo's" Asa Butterfield.

Also signing on is Abigail Breslin, you know, Little Rock from 2009's "Zombieland." The Wrap didn't say what part Breslin will play, but she joins a young cast that includes Butterfield and newly signed Brendan Meyer.

Ford has had a long career that most readers here should already be familiar with. By the time he starred in "Star Wars: A New Hope" in 1977, he had already appeared in 22 productions dating back to 1966. The 69-year-old actor was nominated for an Oscar in 1986 for his work in "Witness."

Breslin got her start in the 2002 M. Night Shyamalan film "Signs," but really got her big break in the 2006 indie hit "Little Miss Sunshine" as the young Olive Harper, which earned her an Oscar nomination. The 15-year-old actress is currently filming "Innocence" with Chloe Sevigny.

The film is being written and directed by Gavin Hood, who directed "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," based in part on Card's 1985 novel, itself based on his 1977 short story.

Filming will begin early next year, set for a March 2013 release.
