Warner Bros. Teases Another Batman Film At IMAX

Six minutes of 'The Dark Knight Rises' will be shown in select cities

If you live near a chosen city equipped with an IMAX screen and don't mind sitting through the new Mission: Impossible movie, then Warner Bros. has a special gift for you in a couple weeks: A chance to see the first six minutes of the new Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises."

In a move similar to what the studio did in 2008 to showcase scenes that were filmed in IMAX, Warner Bros. intends to give a sneak peek to the action-oriented beginning of "Dark Knight Rises" ahead of special screenings of "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" on Dec. 16 in the United States and Dec. 21 in the United Kingdom. However, because "M:I 4" is released Dec. 21 in the United States, it's not clear what film the "Dark Knight Rises" footage will be attached to in this country.

The prologue will appear at nearly 50 IMAX screens in North America and the United Kingdom. That includes five screens in Los Angeles, three in Toronto, and two in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Vancouver. It will also be shown in 17 other states, providences and territories in North America (see list below).

One city the prologue won't be shown? Pittsburgh, where "Dark Knight Rises" where much of the exteriors were filmed. The closest theaters available are either in Philadelphia or the state capitol, Harrisburg.

The movie itself will premiere on July 20, and will have a steep hill to climb. The last outing, "The Dark Knight," went on to earn more than $1 billion worldwide.
