Models worked well for "Star Trek: Voyager," "Star Trek: Enterprise" and even the reboot of "Battlestar Galactica" (yeah, we're looking at you, Tricia Helfer).

So it won't hurt for one actress who could've easily been a model to find a part in J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Trek 2" with the casting of Alice Eve.

It's not clear exactly what role Eve will play in the film, which goes before cameras in January, but she brings a pretty solid acting resume with her to the table.

The British model and actress is probably best known for her role as Sophia in the HBO series "Entourage" in a four-episode span earlier this year. However, she also appeared in the 2010 romantic comedy "She's Out of My League," which starred Jay Baruchel, T.J. Miller and Mike Vogel as well as "Sex and the City 2."

However, she is picking up more high-profile projects that have not come out yet. She wrapped the role of Emily in the John Cusack-starring film "The Raven," based on the life of Edgar Allen Poe. Eve also played a younger version of Agent Oh in "Men In Black III," both of which are scheduled to be released next year.

She is the daughter of Trevor Eve and Sharon Maughan, both actors themselves. Both appeared as a married couple in "She's Out of My League" with their daughter. Trevor has appeared in a number of television movies and series in Britain, probably most internationally known for his role as Detective Superintendent Peter Boyd in the British series "Waking the Dead."

Maughan has had more of an American career, with appearances in shows like "Felicity," "MacGyver" and "Murder, She Wrote."

Eve will be reunited in the movie with Simon Pegg, who plays Montgomery Scott in "Star Trek 2," but also starred with her in the 2006 comedy "Big Nothing."

Benicio del Toro, who is rumored to be in line to become the big bad in "Star Trek 2," has yet to sign on the dotted line, according to Variety. However, his casting is still widely expected to be finalized well in time for filming to start.

Abrams also is apparently looking for one other major role to fill, believed to be a henchman or assistant to the film's big bad. However, no casting announcements have been made quite yet.
