Star Trek Atlas

Full-color maps and charts on all your favorite quadrants

For your next trip to Risa, be sure to bring along the new full-color atlas "Star Trek: Star Charts."

Set to be released next October, the 96-page book was written and illustrated by graphics artist Geoffrey Mandel. It includes sections on each of the four quadrants, with details on the political layout of each quadrant. Also included are the history of specific planets such as Bajor, Cardassia, Rigel and Vulcan.

There are also the charted routes of the USS Voyager and Enterprise NX-01, as well as a chart on the Dominion War. Included in the back of the book are several gatefold charts of the United Federation of Planets.

After seven years working with the Star Trek franchise, Mandel has contributed to "Deep Space Nine," "Voyager," "Enterprise," "Star Trek: Generations" and "Star Trek: Insurrection." Mandel benefited from the help of Doug Drexler, Tim Earls, and Larry Nemecek while putting together "Star Trek: Star Charts." He also received technical advice from Star Trek veterans Andre Bormanis, Mike Okuda, and Rick Sternbach.

In order to pursue working on feature films, Mandel will be leaving Trek after the end of "Enterprise's" current season. "As with almost everybody in the graphics department, I'm delighted the way Enterprise has turned out," Mandel said, "and wish the best for my friends Mike Okuda, Denise Okuda, and Jim Vanover, and particularly my old New York City pals Doug Drexler and Anthony Fredrickson."
