No one is talking on whether Aaron Ashmore's new "Warehouse 13" agent is going to replace Joanne Kelly's Myka character. But one thing is for sure, he's going to surprise you.
Well, OK, he'll surprise you as long as you stop reading this story right now.
Ashmore, who is best known for his popular role of Jimmy Olsen in The CW show "Smallville," brings to "Warehouse 13" a new agent who could tell if George Washington really did chop down that cherry tree. He is a human lie detector.
Oh, and he's gay, too.
"It's just a part of who he is," showrunner Jack Kenny said. "It doesn't define the character."
While it won't be flashed up on billboards around the warehouse, it won't be ignored either. It also doesn't mean, however, there could be some "Torchwood" style loving in North Dakota.
"These people's lives are crazy trying to save the world, so there's not a lot of time for love," Ashmore recently told gay magazine Out. "I think when he interacts with some people, in the back of my mind as an actor, I'll decide that he thinks that guy is cute. But it doesn't play into how he does his job."
However, if Kenny is trying to define what type of guy Ashmore's character will like, it probably won't include Eddie McClintock. That's because Ashmore is thinking that his character is nor really into guys with muscles (yes, Eddie -- we said you have muscles).
Ashmore, however, was not the actor Kenny and his crew originally planned to take residence in the warehouse. According to Out, the idea was to have an Asian actor play the part. They just couldn't cast the right actor to match the chemistry of the rest of the cast.
Sorry, George Takei.
"Warehouse 13" returns to Syfy July 11 on a new night. In the meantime, be sure to vote for McClintock and fellow co-stars Saul Rubinek and Alison Scagliotti in the Airlock Alpha Portal Awards, taking place right now.
