'The X-Files' Continue To Slip
Ratings not what they used to be for the soon-to-be-canceled show
Not even the death of The Lone Gunmen characters was enough to try and pull the ratings of "The X-Files" up out of mediocre land as yet another episode of the soon-to-be-canceled series went virtually unnoticed.
"The X-Files" pulled a 5.2 rating/8 share in the Nielsen Overnight Metered Market ratings Sunday night beating only "JKX: The Jamie Kennedy Experiment" (2.9/4) and "Off Centre" (2.5/4) on The WB. The Chris Carter series was beaten by the CBS movie "Two Against Time" (8.6/4), "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (7.4/11) on CBS and "Alias" (5.5/8) on ABC in the 9 p.m. hour.
For the night, however, Fox finished in third place thanks to its lineup that includes "The Simpsons" and "Malcolm In the Middle," carrying a 5.3/9. It beat out ABC (4.4/7) and The WB (2.3/3), but lost to CBS (9.0/15) and NBC (6.3/10).
Fox did lead the night in a key demographic, adults 18-49, scoring a 4.4 while NBC grabbed a 3.4, and CBS and ABC tied with a 2.8.
