More Visitors For 'V' Season 2

It's not just Jane Badler, the alien hybrid baby also will be back

It is no secret that "V" had some production problems with discontent over the creative direction the show was taking.

Producers already have promised a more cohesive story in the second season of the series now that those behind-the-scenes problems have been resolved and the story of the sophomore year will focus more on the Visitors and their mysterious agenda on Earth.

And, when the second season airs, fans will get a chance to see more of the Visitors.

All the way at the top is Jane Badler, who played the evil alien overlord Diana in the 1980s version of “V,” who was originally signed for a four-episode arc. However, that has now changed and Badler will instead appear in the full season as the mother of Anna (Morena Baccarin).

Although both characters will be very similar, this new Diana has not to be confused with the old Diana.

"At first, I was trying to bring the old Diana into [the new character] even though [the producers] told me that it wasn't that Diana," Badler said. "The more that the character developed, the more it became a separate entity and evolved into a new incarnation."

Instead, Anna will remain the Diana of this current telling of the “V” story with Badler playing more of an advisory role … almost as if she’d been in Anna’s shoes herself.

"Anna is kind of like the old Diana, with her immorality, her impetuousness and her youth," she said. Those are "all the qualities I had as the old Diana. I come on [now] as the voice of reason."

Also in the season, fans will get to see a little bit more tail. The alien baby that was born in the final episodes of the first season (but was then quickly shrouded and concealed by Anna) will finally be revealed, as will the true appearance of the Vs.

"In Season 2, we're going to see what the hybrid baby looks like," actor Morris Chestnut said. "We're seeing a little bit more of the lizards' skin. [That is] something that we heard a lot from fans of the show, that they wanted more of that."

Chestnut also added “die-hard science-fiction fans are probably going to love seeing the baby."

“V” returns Jan. 4 on ABC.
