LOTR Leads BAFTA Awards
The film takes five awards at the British form of the Oscars
Is it a prelude to the Academy Awards? If so, expect some celebration next month from the makes of "The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring."
The film based on the first book in J.R.R. Tolkien's famous trilogy, won five awards including Best Film in the annual British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards over the weekend.
"Fellowship" also earned director Peter Jackson the David Lean Award for achievement in direction, as well as best special effects for the film, best makeup and hair and the Orange Film of the Year.
The film beat out British-made "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," which ended up with no victories despite eight nominations in different BAFTA categories.
