Harry Potter Prepares For Final Showdown With Voldemort

Warner Bros. releases latest trailer for 'The Deathly Hallows, Part 1'

It's kind of funny reading scoops and secrecy behind the final two Harry Potter films, which begins with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" in November. I mean, hasn't everyone already read the books?

In any event, Warner Bros. is promoting the final two films -- which split the seventh and last book in the Harry Potter series by author J.K. Rowling -- as an epic event for a generation. And that's probably not a stretch.

The new film, coming Nov. 19 (with Part 2 slated for July next year), features the return of all the major actors from the previous films: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Alan Rickman as (former) Professor Snape. But it's the final battle that all the previous films (and books) have been building to: the showdown between Harry Potter and the villain he almost single-handedly defeated as a baby, Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes).

The latest movie trailer in the Harry Potter universe was released early Thursday, and can be found by clicking here.

Beginning with the $317.6 million domestic box office take of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in 2001, the Harry Potter films have collectively pulled in $1.7 billion in box office receipts in North America alone. While "Chamber of Secrets" and "Prisoner of Azkaban" finished below $265 million, the last three films in the series were closer -- or surpassed -- the $300 million mark, according to Internet Movie Database.

"The Deathly Hallows" is being directed by David Yates based on a screenplay from Steve Kloves ... all sourced from Rowling's popular novel series.
