Tuesday, fans will see the return of a television icon when Lindsay Wagner, star of the hit 1970s version of The Bionic Woman, makes the first of at least two appearances on Syfy's hit series, Warehouse 13.

She will play Dr. Vanessa Calder, a physician to the members of the Warehouse staff who has at least one employee there crushing on her.

However, if you're looking for her character to be a traditional doctor in the mold of Dr. Rudy Wells, the doctor on Bionic Woman, you'll likely be disappointed. Wagner described her character as one who follows modern methods of healing.

Dr. Calder is being based around what is happening today, what is referred to as the energy medicine," Wagner said in a recent conference call that involved news outlets including Airlock Alpha. "It is working with the energy system directly to heal the physical.

Due to Wagner's busy schedule, she was not familiar with "Warehouse 13" when her agent told her of the role she was being offered.

I watched it on the web, and found it to be a really fun concept, very creative, the way it is shot and the chemistry of the actors really impressed me," Wagner said. "It's really fun.

In its own way, [it is] very current and today, but it felt a lot, to me, like 'The Bionic Woman,' which attracted me to want to take the part and do the little cameo, which is turning into somewhat of a recurring Warehouse doctor. It's got its exciting and kind of sensationalistic parts to it, but it's not so gory and violent. There are moments when it gets violent, but it is not something that I would not want my kids to watch, and there is a whole lot of stuff on TV that I would not want my kids to watch if they were little.

And there are a lot of problems on television today.

It's all about separateness and exclusion instead of inclusion," Wagner said. "It's incredibly violent, gory, and, I think, desensitizing to thinking of other people [that] if they are not on your side or on your team, as being strictly the adversary.

Wagner's character won't be rewriting history on "Warehouse 13."

They've done a lot of research, and some of the things that sound like they are rewriting history are actually facts that they dug up about history," Wagner said. I find that exciting that, just as in 'The Bionic Woman,' when you have a sci-fi genre, you can say things that are not common knowledge, or that may be very true to you and you may be even able to prove it, but it is not publicly accepted. But you can talk about them because if people can't deal with that, they can just write it off as sci-fi.

Wagner will appear on Warehouse 13 Aug. 17 beginning at 9pm on Syfy. She also will appear in a second episode later in the season.
