Artistic License: Game On With 'The Guild'
Season 4 is underway, along with a new music video by the cast
Season 4 of The Guild is off to a great start, and the first four episodes are available for viewing.
Thus far, this is another great season of the show, which is not only by gamers for gamers, but also about friends and relationships.
Wil Wheaton is back again as Fawkes, and things are certainly getting interesting between him and Codex (Felicia Day). They don't exactly see eye-to-eye on the nature of their relationship, making things even more fun for the viewers. Zaboo has decided to try to be a best friend to Codex, and has some very different ideas on how best to support her. Meanwhile, Codex is having major computer issues, and the guild is arguing about how to design their new guild hall.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where the season goes from here.
The cast has made another music video, Game On. In the video, Zaboo (Sandeep Parikh) is using singing and dancing to convince Codex to play the game. The dancing is wonderful, especially from Tinkerballa (Amy Okuda, who is a dancer). There is a great sequence where Zaboo fights a huge guy that is supposed to represent real life, and while there is physical fighting, in the end, Zaboo defeats him with a spell, showing the power of the game.
For me, the weak spot of the video is Vork (Jeff Lewis). His appearance is somewhat humorous, but does not fit his character quite right. I did like the part at the end with Bladezz (Vincent Caso), but I would have liked to have seen a bit more of Clara (Robin Thorsen).
The tune is catchy, and there are some nice gamer and computer jokes in the lyrics. While overall it is a great video, it does not quite capture the magic of their first one, Do You Want to Date My Avatar. However, fans will enjoy it, and definitely want it for their collection.
