Ferrell, Fey, Hill Face Their Nemeses
Actors talk about who scares them most from upcoming Dreamworks film 'Megamind'
Dreamworks is getting ready to release "Megamind," its latest computer-animated feature starring some big names like Tina Fey, Will Ferrell and Jonas Hill.
Despite these being some of the biggest players in Hollywood right now, even these guys can get a little intimidated by nemeses, they admitted Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con.
Fey said her nemesis was Betty White, and even tantalized a packed audience during the "Megamind" panel at the convention of a possible pay-per-view wrestling match. Fey -- the star of NBC's "30 Rock" -- admitted, however, that she probably wouldn't win.
Ferrell, on the other hand, said there was some serious bad blood between himself and Charlize Theron. Hill said his nemesis was Mel Gibson's girlfriend, then exited the stage only to return a short time later to jokingly retract three-quarters of his previous claim.
"Megamind's" narrative twist, as revealed in a trailer shown during the Comic-Con panel, is that Ferrell's Megamind character actually succeeds in defeating Brad Pitt's Metro Man, which leads to his total domination of MetroCity and a state of evil ennui. There is a further twist in the Jonas Hill character, Titan, but this was dangled before the audience of 6,500 only to be snatched away because of Hill's fear of a crossbow bolt to his head.
Fey, while fondling a life-size cutout of hte absentee Pitt, also added that the news would drive everyone in the audience mad, "like the first screening of 'The Exorcist.'"
Ferrell appeared in costume as Megamind, and anchored a surprisingly subdued, but still very amusing, panel which the audience responded with enthusiasm. Near the end of the panel, Ferrell offered this bit of advice to future cosplayers: "My face is on fire right now. Please, if you plan on doing this in the future, don't use spray paint."
"Megamind" premieres Nov. 6 in theaters across the country and around the world.
