What, No X-Men Future For Taylor Lautner?

E! Online says recent rumors of 'Twilight' star not true

Maybe it has something to do with none of the X-Men having a need to keep their shirt off?

Reports of Twilight franchise star Taylor Lautner heading over to the new "X-Men: First Class" apparently are about as real as vampires, according to E! Online reporter Taryn Ryder.

"Sources close to Taylor tell us it's 'not true' that the teen dream is being pursued by Fox to join the uber-successful franchise," Ryder said. "And we say, shame on it."

Ryder said an action role would be perfect for Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the recent "Twilight: Eclipse" film currently dominating the box office.

"Tay has what it takes to be a blockbuster star," Ryder said. "The cute dimples, hot bod, perfectly groomed hair, and [politically correct] way he handles the press leads us to believe Mr. Perfect would have a cushy career. If he makes the right choices."

Showbiz411 started the rumor earlier this week, even reporting that Twentieth Century Fox had checked Lautner's availability to join James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender in the Matthew Vaughn-directed film.

Instead, Lautner appears to be concentrating on other films, including the next two Twilight films, John Singleton's "Abduction," and "Stretch Armstrong" from Hasbro and Universal Pictures.

Shooting for "First Class" is expected to begin later this summer, and should be in theaters on June 3, 2011 as the fifth film in the X-Men franchise following the original three X-Men films, and the origin picture "Wolverine."
