'Warehouse 13' Delivers Syfy's Best Numbers
Nearly 3 million people tune in to find out what happened to Artie (oh, and the rest of it, too)
It's been 10 months since Syfy has aired a new episode of "Warehouse 13," but no need to worry: fans didn't forget about the network's highest-rated show of 2009 at all.
In fact, nearly 3 million people tuned in to the Season 2 premiere Tuesday, according to overnight numbers provided by the network. That might be down from its record series premiere a year ago, but is well ahead of its final season finale numbers of 2.2 million set in late September.
And the popular audience demographic of adults 18-49 is growing, with the Season 2 premiere up 13 percent over the entire Season 1 average.
The numbers are the best Syfy has posted so far this year, with "Warehouse 13" earning a 2.03 household rating and 1.6 million adults between 25 and 54, another key advertising demographic.
The Season 2 premiere featured a new recurring bad guy played by Jaime Murray of "Dexter" fame. We can't tell you her name here, because the episode aired less than 24 hours ago, and it would require us to put a spoiler on it. But she is from 1890s England, and was an actual Warehouse agent herself, assigned to Warehouse 12 in London.
Murray's character will return throughout the season, with Pete and Myka -- played by Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly -- learning why she was bronzed in the first place, and why MacPherson (Roger Rees) decided to de-ice her.
Ratings could continue to be high all season long at this rate. Not only has Allison Scagliotti joined the cast full-time, but there are a whole host of special guests making their way to the show. Next week, for example, Sean Maher and Jewel Staite from "Firefly" will make a joint guest appearance in an episode penned by Deric A. Hughes and Benjamin Raab (who wrote "Duped" last season). Other guests include Lindsay Wagner from the original "Bionic Woman," Tia Carrere from "Wayne's World," Rene Auberjonois from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," Paula Garces from "Defying Gravity," David Anders from "Heroes" and Faran Tahir from "Iron Man" and "Star Trek."
Also making a special guest appearance next month is Neil Grayston, a star of Syfy's other hit grounded series "Eureka," as part of a crossover between the two shows that will include sending Scagliotti to Eureka.
"Warehouse 13" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.
