Reynolds opening an X-File
Popular actor to help provide a short ratings boost
Maybe he'll drive a fast sports car, maybe he'll direct a porn movie. But no matter what he does, Burt Reynolds will be appearing on "The X-Files."
Reynolds is currently filming the episode he'll be starring in, which is expected to air in May.
According to Zap2it, Reynolds will play a "mysterious figure" who has a strange connection not only to the murder that Agents Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and John Doggett (Robert Patrick) are investigating, but to the agents themselves.
The episode, whose name was not released, will be written and directed by Chris Carter, and will not be a mythology episode.
Reynolds is best known for movies like "Smokey and the Bandit," "Cannonball Run," and "Boogie Nights," the latter where he played a porn star directed that earned him an Oscar nomination. His television credits include "Gunsmoke," "Hawk" and "Evening Shade."
