Buffy/Angel crossover coming?
Could happen as early as next season
They're on two different networks, but they're both from one man: Joss Whedon.
And it's that man that is now saying that both "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" could be seeing a crossover as early as next season.
"It's not something we're pursuing this year, but it's something we might get into next year if things have cooled down between the two networks," Whedon recently told the New York Daily News.
"Buffy" originally debuted on The WB starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, and instantly became a cult classic. So much so that Whedon spun off "Angel" on the network a short time later, starring David Boreanaz based on his character from "Buffy."
Last year, however, Fox wanted to increase the amount of money The WB was paying for each episode of "Buffy," but the network wasn't interested in paying the price. UPN was, however, and the show jumped to the Viacom-owned network last fall. "Angel," in the mean time, stayed with The WB, and both networks entered into a war of words through the media.
"UPN really came out swinging" with the show, Whedon said. "They really promised and delivered a great deal of support. They put passion in it. Our fan base is not huge, but it is hugely loyal. I knew they would follow us."
