The millennia-old voyage of the Destiny continues April 2 when "Stargate: Universe" resumes its first season on Syfy.

The network made the announcement in a bit of a roundabout way, not really sending out releases, but instead letting the media know when they sent out screeners for the next two episodes of the third installment in the Stargate franchise.

"Space" is the name of the first episode back, and those longing for some great action will be in for a treat, especially since there is a promise of a cool space battle.

Plus, who wouldn't want to know how Dr. Rush (Robert Carlyle) rejoins the crew?

Finally, author John Scalzi, who was a creative consultant for "Universe" in the first season, will return in the same role for Season 2.

"I'm very glad to continue in this gig, because on a personal level, it's one of the most fun gigs I've had," Scalzi said on his blog. Scalzi's wife "has noted to me that when I talk to her about what I do on the show, the expression I get is almost exactly like that of a 10-year-old boy talking about a favorite toy. I won't deny it, although maybe I'd quibble that it's not a toy, it's a seekrit club I belong to, in which we build spaceships out of cardboard boxes and aliens out of stuffed animals, and then go zoom-zoom-zoom around the neighborhood."

Capt. Kirk as Denny Crane as Crazy Old Geezer

I'm sure it will have a different name if CBS picks it up for a series, but William Shatner is going to get probably one of the most fun jobs of his career, besides "Boston Legal," of course -- the title role in "Shit My Dad Says."

The idea for the show came from a Twitter feed created by Justin Halpern after he moved in with his father last August. It has since attracted more than 1.19 million followers with zingers like:

"A parent's only as good as their dumbest kid. If one wins a Nobel Prize, but the other gets robbed by a hooker, you failed."

Or ...

"No, I'm not a pessimist. At some point the world shits on everybody. Pretending it ain't shit makes you an idiot, not an optimist."

The show is still in the pilot stage, but with the Emmy-winning Shatner on board, it now has moved up a couple slots toward a series order. It will be executive produced by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick of "Will & Grace" fame. -- [The Hollywood Reporter].

He Is Not Spock

If there was one thing Shatner learned in his days of early television, he isn't Spock. But former presidential candidate Mitt Romney needs to learn this lesson as well.

Romney apparently got his Vulcan on by trying to do the famous neck pinch on rapper Skylar Gordy of the group LMFAO, according to TMZ. It turned into a scuffle that got Gordy kicked off a plane, while the former Massachusetts governor got to continue on to his destination.

Gordy is fine, however, and it seems Romney was a bit unsuccessful in delivering the neck pinch. Gordy didn't pass out, but Romney most likely turned red from embarrassment. -- [TrekMovie]

John Barrowman not desperate for 'Torchwood'

He's the new big baddie on "Desperate Housewives" on ABC, but actor John Barrowman hasn't quite ruled out the "Doctor Who" spinoff "Torchwood.

Alan Stanley Blair, Airlock Alpha's news editor, caught Barrowman on "One Show" in the United Kingdom, and picked up some interesting tidbits about "Torchwood's" future.

"If they do 'Torchwood' again, I would definitely want to be a part of it," Barrowman said. "But I know nothing about it."

Barrowman said he did have a chance to acquire the Torchwood car, but had to turn it down, saying he knew "what they've done to it."

The vehicle instead was sent to auction, and I didn't win. -- [Airlock Alpha]

Stargate MMO hits another pothole

Cheyenne Mountain, the developer behind the proposed Stargate massively multiplayer online roleplaying game, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, asking the courts to help it deal with some of its outstanding debt, and to continue operating.

The move isn't too much of a surprise. The company had backed off its MMO development last year, and instead pushed out the non-MMO game "Stargate Resistance" instead as a way to boost its cash position.

That apparently wasn't enough, and now Cheyenne Mountain is asking a bankruptcy court for help.

Cheyenne Mountain's former head, Gary Whiting, is the subject of complaints filed by shareholders in Arizona, and his business dealings could make the company responsible for some of the debts he collected, according to news reports.

In the meantime, "Resistance" is still well-received by fans, and maybe that will help push an MMO back into development. -- [Fudzilla]

An old face returns to 'Lost'

It's resurrection paradise on "Lost" for its final season, this time with the return of actress Maggie Grace, who played Shannon in the first two seasons of the series.

"We're really excited about having her back on the show," executive producer Carlton Cuse told Entertainment Weekly.

How will Shannon come back? And what will she do? We'll just have to wait to find out. -- [Entertainment Weekly]

Starbuck finds a new role

Acting jobs are coming aplenty for former "Battlestar Galactica" beauty Katee Sackhoff.

Sackhoff will star in an untitled drama pilot for ABC, developed by Richard Hatem, where she will play a detective who teams up with a disgraced ex-cop to solve crimes and untangle the conspiracy that sent him underground.

That will be a tough stunt for Sackhoff to pull off, especially since she is currently a regular on the Fox series "24." So it will be interesting to see what the fate of her character is there. -- [The Hollywood Reporter]
