NBC Offers Big Prizes For 'Chuck' Fans
Encourage people to watch the show and you will be rewarded
Ever fancied yourself as a secret agent? Well, now is your chance ... if you are a fan of the NBC series "Chuck," that is.
The network is currently working on several ways to boost the prominence of the series. One such tactic is encouraging fans of the show to spread word about the series in a campaign known as "Chuck Me Out," the online experience offers prizes for fans that complete a daily mission and then continue to spread "Chuck" on online social networking sites.
Top prize in the not-so-covert operation: an appearance in the series during a "Chuck" flash. But for those who aren't quite lucky enough to win big, NBC also is offering a ton of "Chuck" merchandise, including messenger bags, sweatshirts and signed DVDs.
Another approach being used by the network is by asking fans to submit their own YouTube video sharing all the things they love about "Chuck." It's a concept that has met mixed results in the past. CBS launched a similar video campaign for "Jericho" before the series returned for its second season. That tongue-in-cheek video received a fantastic response from the fans but the show was still eventually cancelled.
All the YouTube contest requires is for fans to submit a 60-second video. As with the previous competition the winner get their 15 seconds of fame and will be featured as part of a "Chuck" commercial that will run on YouTube on Jan. 10 when the show returns.
"Chuck" will air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC after the new year.
