It looks like the ratings for "FlashForward" is finally coming back to Earth a little bit.
The ABC show earned a 5.7 rating/9 share, according to Fast National ratings from The Nielsen Co., matching the series low it had back on Oct. 15. It's an 8 percent drop from the previous week, and it's 9.5 percent below its season average so far.
However, much of Thursday was down for all the networks. In the 8 p.m. slot, the World Series on Fox between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies dominated with a 10.6/17, and "Survivor: Samoa" on CBS had a 7.1/11. But those were the only two networks to finish ahead of "FlashForward" with NBC's comedy block averaging a 3.4/6 and "Vampire Diaries" on The CW managing a 2.6/4.
However, only "Vampire Diaries" and NBC's "Community" actually posted an audience increase over its previous airings. "Vampire Diaries" rose 8 percent while "Community" was up 9 percent. "Survivor," which has been growing its audience since its premiere, was off nearly 8 percent from the week before, while "Parks & Recreation" on NBC was flat at 3.2/5, according to Zap2it.
"FlashForward" remains ABC's lowest-rated show on Thursdays, but that is behind powerhouse "Grey's Anatomy," that earned an 8.6/13 -- off 10.5 percent from the previous week -- and "Private Practice," which lost 7.5 percent of its audience from the week before, and 28 percent loss from its lead-in.
It is the highest-rated network genre show, however, remaining ahead of "Heroes" on NBC, which earned a 3.7/6 this week. Some 82 percent of "FlashForward's" overall audience continues to come back each week, which is still showing pretty decent audience retention for a freshman series, according to the BlipNetwork's Audience Loyalty Index. Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
