Former Trek writer gets gig
Bryan Fuller to develop new series for Showtime
From the same American premium cable channel that brought its audiences original series like "Stargate SG-1," "Queer As Folk," and the new J. Michael Straczynski series "Jeremiah" comes a new series being developed by a Star Trek alum.
Bryan Fuller, whose writing credits include "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and "Star Trek: Voyager," has received the greenlight to develop a new series for Showtime called "Dead Girl" through MGM Television Entertainment, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The series features an underachieving 18-year-old girl who dies in a freak accident and returns to Earth as one of many grim reapers assigned to pick up souls of those who run out of time.
Showtime has ordered a two-hour pilot as well as additional scripts for the series. No timetable on when the new series would premiere has been set.
