It looks like "Fringe" has finally found its groove on Thursday nights. And that's the good news.

The bad news is, it remains one of Fox's lowest rated programs, living in the basement with "So You Think You Can Dance" and beating only the network's dismal Friday lineup.

"Fringe" earned a 3.7 rating/6 share, according to Fast National ratings from The Nielsen Co. Thursday, finishing behind everyone except "Supernatural" on The CW once again. That means it was bested by "CSI" on CBS, "Grey's Anatomy" on ABC, and a special airing of "The Office" on NBC, all three of which averaged double the audience of "Fringe."

"Fringe" has lost an entire ratings point since premiering to a 4.7/8 on Sept. 17, but since then has maintained a 3.7/6 average over the next three weeks. Its first four episodes are averaging a 3.9/7, meaning its losing 33 percent of its lead-in audience from "Bones," which is averaging a 5.8/10.

"FlashForward" is not having a good time on ABC. That show fell to a 5.9/9 Thursday, according to Zap2it. That was a 12 percent loss from last week, and more than 23 percent from its series premiere on Sept. 24. It also is ABC's lowest-rated Thursday show behind the 8.9/14 of "Grey's Anatomy" and the 6.3/11 of "Private Practice."

Overall so far, "FlashForward" is averaging a 6.8/11, only slightly behind the 7.0/12 "Private Practice" is earning from its "Grey's Anatomy" lead-in. That show is averaging a 10.1/16, meaning it's growing its lead-in audience by 49 percent, only to lose more than 30 percent of it to its lead-out, "Private Practice."

CBS won the night with an 8.4/14, while ABC finished second with a 7.0/11. Fox finished third with a 4.9/8.

On The CW, "Vampire Diaries" still remains behind "America's Next Top Model" as that network's highest-rated program, but just barely, picking up a 2.1/3, so far its lowest rating of the season after five episodes. The freshman drama is still averaging a 2.5/4 after a strong premiere Sept. 10.

"Supernatural" nearly matched its previous week with a 1.6/2, below its season average of 1.8/3.

Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
