'Supernatural' Could End in 2010

Series creator plans to wrap storyline this season

The Winchester Brothers' saga could come to an end with the Season 5 finale of The CW's "Supernatural."

Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello spoke with creator Eric Kripke about the future of the series, and Kripke's staying true to his vow that his five-season storyline will conclude in 2010.

"Quite frankly, I never expected it to make it to five years," Kripke said. "But now that we're in our fifth year, I have every intention of ending the story with a bang and not drawing it out or watering it down."

With a set ending to this storyline in place for the end of Season 5, what happens if the popular series that just won its second straight Airlock Alpha Portal Award for best television series is picked up for a sixth season?

"I'm looking at this season as the last chapter in this particular story," Kripke said. "That doesn't mean there can't be a new story."

At this time, Kripke does not have a deal with The CW beyond Season 5.

When asked if he'd be part of a hypothetical Season 6, Kripke said he didn't know.

"I'm going to cross that bridge when I get to it," he said.

Season 5 of "Supernatural," which could be the beginning of the end, premieres Sept. 10 on The CW.
