Always a man known for liking to work with who he knows, it seems now Joss Whedon is expanding that list to people he knows from watching television.

That might be the case with Jamie Bamber, who signs on for a stint as a businessman who also is the new husband of Eliza Dushku's Echo character on Fox's "Dollhouse." Bamber spent the last six years playing Lee "Apollo" Adama in the SciFi Channel reimagining of "Battlestar Galactica," a show Whedon has always praised and included on his favorites list.

He will join another "Battlestar" alum, Michael Hogan -- better known as the one-eyed Col. Tigh -- who will have a guest spot as a client hoping to stop a killing spree by a whacked out family member, according to James Hibberd of The Hollywood Reporter.

This is a first time for both actors working on a Whedon project although Bamber has done other projects since first getting his role on "Battlestar" with guest appearances on shows such as "Cold Case" and "Ghost Whisperer" in 2007 and "Law & Order: U.K." for 13 episodes.

Hogan has appeared in shows such as "Earth: Final Conflict," "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda" and "The L Word."

One actress fans had been hoping Whedon would recruit for "Dollhouse" is now on board as well. Summer Glau, late of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and another Whedon project from years ago, "Firefly," will play an employee of the Dollhouse that seems to have some kind of history with Echo. She will join Alexis Denisof from "Angel," who will play a U.S. Senator dedicated to trying to find this so-called Dollhouse.

"Angel," of course, is a series Whedon co-created that was a spinoff of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

While HIbberd said the moves to include these actors, as well as Keith Carradine from "Dexter," is a way to broaden the audience, it looks more like Whedon is trying to simply expand the geek audience. Will it work to give "Dollhouse" a fighting chance on Friday nights? Or could this be another "Serenity" in the making.

We'll have to wait until fall officially gets here to find out.
