'Alien' Prequel Launches With Ridley Scott
Original movie's director returns to helm the franchise
They said it couldn't happen, but yet here it is: After decades of waiting, Ridley Scott will finally return to the Alien movie franchise that he started back in 1979, according to Variety.
Twentieth Century Fox has already found a writer, Jon Spaihts, while Scott's Scott Free Productions will hang its shingle on the new film.
The first film was a breakout role for Sigourney Weaver, who would later appear in a number of sequels to the film, none of which would involve Scott who would go on to direct Oscar-winning films such as "Gladiator" in 2000. He also directed the very popular "Blade Runner" in 1982, a film "Battlestar Galactica" star Edward James Olmos recently hyped extensively during his first ever appearance at San Diego Comic-Con.
