There were a lot of rumors that BBC would use Sunday's "Doctor Who" panel at San Diego Comic-Con to announce a new motion picture starring David Tennant at the helm of the Tardis.

But for anyone getting ready to stand in line to hear about the new film might want to wait just a little longer. "Doctor Who" executive producer Julie Gardner said there is no such project being readied.

"There's all these things that people think we're going to talk about on this panel," Tennant told reporters including Airlock Alpha at a roundtable discussion Saturday at Comic-Con. "We are just here to celebrate the specials."

In terms of any special announcement, "we don't have one," Gardner said.

"I really hope that people aren't disappointed," Tennant said.

The Doctor in the form of Tennant is wrapping up his run later this year in a two-part finale that will be a real tear-jerker, Gardner said. It will include the return of many past actors including Billie Piper, Catherine Tate, and one big baddie that has been rumored, but never officially confirmed ... until now.

"John Simm is in it," Tennant said of the actor who played The Master in the third season. "We're admitting that now, I guess. Having John back was great."

Also joining the finale is former James Bond actor Timothy Dalton.

"What a great voice that man has," Gardner said.

"His enthusiasm to be here has been one of the eternal joys I have seen how excited the guest cast is."

BBC America will air "Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead" Sunday. The final episodes with Tennant as The Doctor will air around Christmastime on BBC.

"Torchwood: Children of Earth" and "Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead" is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
