This should come as no surprise, but it seems that Joss Whedon is turning down the upcoming "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie project.
If you remember, the production crew that first brought us the forgettable 1992 movie have decided the market is ready for their great input of Whedon's creation to return ... but as if the popular television series that ran on both the former The WB and UPN didn't exist. According to Cinemablend, that was enough to keep Whedon far away from this project.
"I believe the producers did ultimately reach out to my agent after the news broke," Whedon said. "I think that's something better left untouched by me. So, I wish them luck."
So no Spike, no Angel, no Willow ... the producers might need a lot of luck. -- [On The Flix]
Opening Torchwood to the public: Here's something even Capt. Jack Harkness can be proud of.
This summer, Experience Design and the council in Cardiff, Wales, is considering a museum exhibition at the Roald Dahl Plass water tower in honor of the "Doctor Who" spinoff series "Torchwood." It would feature different elements of the Torchwood Hub, located just off of Cardiff Bay in the series.
"We have looked at several sites for a Torchwood Exhibition, but we are hoping that this one might be available soon," Martin Wilkie of Experience Design told BBC News. "The appeal of 'Torchwood' brings many visitors to Cardiff Bay, especially to see the Torchwood Water Tower."
If the exhibit comes together, it should happen in July, just in time for the shortened and week-long Season 3 to start on BBC and BBC America July 20. -- [BBC News]
From virtual reality to road show: Alessandra Torresani just had one episode so far to wow audiences as Zoe in the "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff "Caprica," but now she has to learn how to play the guitar.
Torresani will play guitarist Lita Ford in the upcoming biopic "The Runaways." She will join Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curry and Stella Maeve as Sandy West in the film featuring the band from the 1970s.
Filming is not expected to interfere with her "Caprica" shooting schedule. -- [MovieWeb]
Reaping the benefits on 'Dollhouse': The creators of the now-canceled The CW series "Reaper" have found new jobs working with Joss Whedon on "Dollhouse."
Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters are joining the Fox series for Season 2 where they will replace Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain. That couple moved over to another Fox series, "Lie to Me."
It seems that writer Maurissa Tancharoen (yep, the same one from "Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog") was the first to break the news ... on Twitter. And to prove it came from Twitter, here's what Tancharoen said: "Fazekas and Butters are in D-house and they're awesome." -- [IGN]
That's Sir Christopher Lee to you: He might be more a wizard and a dark Jedi, but now actor Christopher Lee can be a real knight, thanks to Queen Elizabeth II.
Lee, who is now 87, will be knighted for his endless contribution to culture. He played Saruman the White in the Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as Count Dooku in two of the most recent Star Wars movies.
Lee was one of the first people cast in Lord of the Rings, and was the only person who actually knew the author of the books, J.R.R. Tolkien. He also is known to read the complete trilogy on an annual basis.
Also honored were hairdresser Vidal Sassoon and golfer Nick Faldo. -- [CNN]
