Bakula nominated for award

The People's Choice Awards give fans a chance to pick their favorites

Photo courtesy of the United Paramount NetworkHow popular is "Enterprise?" The world could find out after Scott Bakula (Capt. Jonathan Archer) was nominated for Male Performer in a New Series for the People's Choice Awards that will air Jan. 13 on CBS.

But one of two people competing with Bakula has some Trek experience of his own. Jason Alexander, who played Kurros in the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Think Tank" also is nominated for his recently-cancelled series, "Bob Patterson" on ABC.

The People's Choice Awards are voted on in a nationwide poll conducted by Gallup, using a representative sampling of more than 214 million Americans who select their favorites in most categories.

And getting invitations to award shows is nothing new for Bakula. He was nominated in 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993 for his role on the NBC series "Quantum Leap, and also was nominated three times for a Golden Globe, winning that award once in 1992. He also had a small role in the 1999 movie "American Beauty," which won an Oscar for Best Picture among others.

"Enterprise" begins airing new episodes on UPN again at the end of January.
