Enterprise continues dominance

Overnight ratings show that the new Star Trek isn't slowing down

If there is going to be a freshman drama winner crown awarded this year, it might just end up at UPN after all.

"Enterprise" has remained rock solid since its premiere at the beginnig of the season, and continued to show dominance on Wednesday night, pulling in a 6.0 rating/9 share in Nielsen's Overnight Metered Market Ratings for "Cold Front." That was a 43 percent advantage over "Dawson's Creek" on The WB, which scored a 4.2/6, and even scored better than Fox's "Grounded For Life" (5.5/8) in the 8 p.m. hour.

The news isn't the same for "Special Unit 2," which slipped to a 3.4/5 in the 9 p.m. hour. However, that was still enough for UPN to tie with The WB's "Felicity" in the ratings.

Beating "Enterprise" in the 8 p.m hour were "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" on NBC (10.6/17), ABC's "My Wife and Kids" (8.9/13) and "According to Jim" (7.9/11); Fox's "The Bernie Mac Show" (7.4/11) and CBS' "60 Minutes II" (7.1/10).

One victory to note for "Enterprise" is that its ratings were higher than the Garth Brooks concert that aired at 10 p.m. on CBS. That special, unlike Michael Jackson a couple weeks ago, pulled in a 5.0/8.

UPN finished fifth on the night with a 4.7/7, beating The WB's 3.8/5.

The top four networks for Wednesday were NBC (14.3/21), ABC (7.5/11), Fox (6.3/9) and CBS (6.2/9).
