'Dollhouse,' 'Sarah Connor' Lose Audience Ground

However, 'Lost' and 'Knight Rider' rebound a bit

A second week of "Dollhouse" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" didn't do much better for Fox on Friday, but it is scoring halfway decent with the audiences 18 to 49 ... just not too much outside of that.

"Dollhouse" fell slightly from its series premiere audience the previous week, earning a 2.7 rating/5 share in Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research. It built on its "Sarah Connor" audience by 12.5 percent, mirroring the previous week, but still finishing well behind its competition on other networks including reruns on CBS and "Supernanny" on ABC.

"Dollhouse" did beat one other show, however. "Friday Night Lights" on NBC managed a 2.5/4, finishing more than 7 percent behind.

"Sarah Connor" matched its ratings from the previous week, beating only repeats on The CW. It was topped by a rerun of "Ghost Whisperer" on CBS, and "Wife Swap" on ABC. It did finish tied with NBC's "Howie Do It" which also earned a 2.4/4 for the hour.

Fox finished fourth overall for the night, but actually didn't fair too badly when it came to adults 18 to 49, a key audience demographic. There, the network was in third place with a 1.5 household rating, just behind the 1.7 earned by night leaders ABC and CBS. NBC wasn't too far behind itself with a 1.3 rating.

On Wednesday, "American Idol" on Fox may have reined supreme, according to Zap2it, but "Lost" was able to bounce back from the previous week's season low to earn a 6.5/10. It was technically behind Fox's "Lie To Me" in households, but "Lost" actually generated more viewers, finishing behind "Criminal Minds" on CBS.

"Life On Mars" didn't have much luck, however. It lost more than 43 percent of "Lost's" audience, but was up 12 percent from its previous week. Like "Sarah Connor" and "Knight Rider," "Life On Mars" is not expected to return next season.

Speaking of "Knight Rider," that show clocked in with a 3.6/6, tying with a rerun of "Lost" on ABC in terms of households, but finishing with fewer viewers. Its rating was up nearly 6 percent from the previous week.

Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
