The new spinoff version of SciFi Wire from its parent SciFi Channel Web site is complete ... and it's a blog!

The new site, located at www.scifiwire.com was launched Monday months after NBC Universal, the parent corporation of SciFi Channel, first announced the move. The first stories on the new site feature a set visit to the film "The Uninvited," and interview with comics movie writer David S. Goyer, and an exclusive sneak peek at a scene from the upcoming "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff "Caprica."

The new SciFi Wire will focus on movies, television, games, books and celebrities, as well as provide coverage of red carpet events, according to the site. It also will have movie trailers, sneak peeks, and on-set interviews.

It also will work much more closely with the online SciFi Weekly adding content such as top 10 lists and satire.

Patrick Lee will remain the site's news editor, and Scott Edelman is the features editor of the new site. SciFi Wire itself will be based out of New York City, but Lee will continue to work from Pasadena, Calif., and Edelman will do his work from West Virginia.

The new site already has its first week mapped out. Joining its sneak peek of "Caprica" on Monday, it will follow with an exclusive look into an upcoming episode of "Battlestar Galactica," which premieres on the SciFi Channel Jan. 16. On Wednesday, the site is scheduled to share its reasons on why Star Wars franchise creator George Lucas should quit before offering a look at upcoming episodes of the SciFi Channel series "Sanctuary."

On Friday, the site will take a deep look at "Watchmen," a movie that is marred in legal issues between Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros.

Despite the spinoff, SciFi Wire is still owned and operated by NBCU.
