Happy New Year! Here's How 'Battlestar Galactica' Ends

This story contains MAJOR SPOILERS for the final episodes of "Battlestar Galactica."

Lots of rumors have circulated on what fans can expect in the last 10 episodes of "Battlestar Galactica" when they premiere on SciFi Channel beginning Jan. 16 -- many of which have originated right here at Airlock Alpha.

But as a New Year's Eve gift, Airlock Alpha is releasing what is likely one of its biggest spoilers of all: we're sharing how "Battlestar Galactica" is going to end.

Will this final scene reveal the final Cylon? No. Keeping our promise to unidentified members of the "Battlestar Galactica" cast and crew, we're still not going to reveal that information. But the final scene could be considered a spoiler surrounding events that fans are eagerly awaiting answers, so continue reading at your own risk.

The final scene will have just one familiar face in it, and while viewers may not recognize anyone else in the scene, they will be well aware of where the scene takes place.

Tricia Helfer, who has played numerous incarnations of the Cylon Number Six, is the star of the scene, but will have no lines. In fact, the final scene is nothing more than music, and of Helfer walking through a crowd in her red dress.

The crowd, by the way, is in Times Square in New York City ... present day.

This spoiler was shared with Airlock Alpha well over a year ago, but had been held back after writers for "Battlestar Galactica" indicated they attended a retreat after those spoilers were shared where they "mapped out" how the show would end. Because that suggested the spoilers Airlock Alpha received about the ending were now in flux, we chose to hold on to the information until we felt more confident that the information was still true.

One of the drawbacks on reporting rumors and spoilers is that information can change from one day to the next, and nothing is confirmed until someone attached to a show talks about it publicly, or fans actually see it on the screen. Until an episode airs, any number of changes can be made, even from the final shooting script of an episode, which is why patience is sometimes the best attribute to have in deciding what rumors to report or not.

Last August, however, popular entertainment news site io9 released images from the final episodes of "Battlestar Galactica," including one particular behind-the-scenes footage of Helfer wearing her popular red dress in New York City. We didn't know this video had been released until io9 talked about what it described as the "greatest" and most wrong spoilers of the year, including one spoiler released by Airlock Alpha in September that talked about the "Earth" found in the fourth season mid-season finale not being the same Earth viewers are living on right now.

Of course, Airlock Alpha still believes that rumor to be very accurate, and with evidence of some exterior shooting involving Helfer in New York City now floating around the net, believe that the reports of the final scene also are accurate.

Of course, a report such as this should be treated as any rumor would, as it has not been confirmed by SciFi Channel, and is subject to change.

Our favorite Cylon, walking through Times Square ... that's something worth talking about for sure.

"Battlestar Galactica" returns Jan. 16 at 10 p.m. ET on SciFi Channel.
