Last week, "Smallville" matched a season high with a 2.9 rating/5 share on The CW, something practically considered a blockbuster on that netlet.
Now, however, Clark Kent has some competition in the genre, and believe it or not, it's coming from a network that's not The CW, but instead is run by Rupert Murdoch.
"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" ended November sweeps with its worst rating by far ever, earning a 2.9/5, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research. That blew away the previous low of "Sarah Connor," a 3.1/5 picked up during the seventh week of the television season.
"Sarah Connor" fell nearly 15 percent from the previous week, and is off 29 percent from its season high during its opening week premiere.
It might be easy to blame the first part of the season finale of the highly popular "Dancing With the Stars" on ABC for the struggles, but all the other shows in the 8 p.m. timeslot were pretty much on par with normal ratings. "Chuck" scored a 4.0/6, according to Zap2it, for the fifth time, matching its season best. "Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" each earned a 6.1/9, actually above its 10-week average. So not all audiences were drained.
"Heroes" on NBC also struggled, however. It matched last week's 4.6/7, but that is still a series low, and is 23 percent off its season premiere.
Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
