'Life On Mars' Sees A Little Life

Since its premiere when it actually finished ahead of "Eleventh Hour," the ABC series "Life On Mars" is experiencing a little bit of a boost in the ratings, experiencing some of its best numbers in weeks Thursday night.

"Life On Mars" earned a 5.7 rating/10 share, finishing just behind "ER" on NBC, but a good distance behind "Eleventh Hour," which earned a 7.7/13, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research. Those numbers were up more than 5 percent from the previous week, but is still more than 6 percent off its average after four episodes.

It's down more than 42 percent from its "Grey's Anatomy" lead-in, but finished slightly better than "Ugly Betty" in the 8 p.m. hour for ABC.

"Eleventh Hour" is still working very strong, and in fact was the top genre show for the week once again. It's 7.7/13 matched its rating for the previous week, and now has a 97.4 Stability Index Rating, a comparison of the average overnight rating versus its highest overnight rating conducted by Airlock Alpha. "Eleventh Hour" is averaging a 7.6/13 after four episodes, slightly behind the ratings for the last two weeks.

"Eleventh Hour" originally premiered with a 7.3/12, which has been its lowest rating of the season.

With "Eleventh Hour" and "Life On Mars" on top of the genre ratings heap for the week, "Heroes" on NBC took third with a 4.9/7 followed by a 4.0/6 from both "Pushing Daisies" on ABC and "Chuck" on NBC.

"Smallville" and "Supernatural" posted strong ratings this week as well, according to Zap2it. "Smallville" had a 2.6/4, which is right at the show's average so far this year. "Supernatural" earned an estimated 2.3/4, slightly above its 2.2 average.

CBS won Thursday night with a 9.0/14 with ABC finishing second with a 7.1/11.

Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
