SciFi Channel Picks Up 'Stargate SG-1' Movies
The two direct-to-DVD movies MGM made over the past couple years based on the "Stargate SG-1" universe are coming to the SciFi Channel beginning this spring.
"Stargate: Ark of Truth" as well as "Stargate Continuum" will air on SciFi Channel as Sunday night movie events, and could complement the release of the new series "Stargate: Universe," which may come out in July.
At the same time, "Stargate: Atlantis" will continue to live on SciFi Channel as a television movie, which also will air on SciFi Channel, and could be shown during the "Universe" mid-season break, according to Multichannel News.
That means there will be plenty of Stargate on SciFi Channel throughout 2009, and even more coming soon to a DVD store near you. Brad Wright, co-creator of "SG-1," said that there will be at least one more movie based on the franchise, and is expected to include Amanda Tapping, who is set to debut in her new SciFi Channel series "Sanctuary."
The final episodes of "Atlantis" is expected to air later this year on SciFi Channel.
