The CW duo of "Smallville" and "Supernatural" stayed mostly stable in its audience through its second week as both shows seem to be tracking stronger than last year.

"Smallville" earned a 2.6 rating/4 share, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, down just slightly from the previous week. What's interesting is that KItchen Nightmares" did so horribly for Fox that "Smallville" almost beat it to move out of the basement of the 8 p.m. hour.

"Supernatural" kept things going in the second hour, according to Zap2it, with an estimated 2.2/4 for the hour, losing only a few percent of the "Smallville" audience. This time the distance between The CW and Fox was a little greater, but not by much.

Both shows are keeping very stable audiences. Early Stability Index Ratings provided by Airlock Alpha give "Smallville" and "Supernatural" a 98.1 and a 97.8 respectively, the highest of the network genre shows tracked so far. In fact, only "Heroes" is close in the Stability Index Rating with a 96.7.

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" is staying steady with a 92.7 index rating, while "Fringe" seems to be rocking wildly in terms of audience stability, finishing with an unstable index rating of 81.7 after three episodes. "Fringe" seemed to spike last week with the premiere of "House," but in the third week, finished back at its original premiere rating.

For the week, "Heroes" was the most watched genre program with a 6.1/9 high followed by "Fringe" with a 6.0/9, "Knight Rider" with a 4.5/7, and "Sarah Connor" with a 3.8/7.

Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
