SciFriday: Hey, Aaron ... That's My Job!
I just had a little note I wanted to share with all of the great readers of SciFriday, including the very talented Aaron Douglas from "Battlestar Galactica."
In fact, Aaron, this is really more to you than anyone else. And I mean this with the utmost respect (and, of course, a little tongue-in-cheek) ...
Acting ... that's your job. Spoilers? That's mine. So stay off my turf!
Seriously, though, I'm really trying to figure out if Douglas realized he was giving out spoilers or not when he appeared on a radio show this past week, a transcript of which was picked up by Ain't It Cool News. I won't get into the details of his spoiler here, because there are some SciFriday readers who don't want to be spoiled, but either he thought these elements were in the mid-season finale that he talked about, or he knew for sure, and decided to become Mr. Spoiler.
What Douglas revealed wasn't small potatoes, either. It's part of a series of plot details about the first few episodes of the final batch that I've been receiving for more than a year, but many of which I have kept under my hat because I made some promises to a few sources that I would not reveal any show-changing elements coming up ... that includes the identity of the final Cylon (which I know) and the information that Douglas shared.
I am trying to remember all the spoilers I reported on "Battlestar" over the last year or so, and I can't remember if I actually talked about what Aaron did ... and trust me, I have nothing against Aaron talking about it because it has started to generate some much-needed buzz about the show again. But Aaron, if you keep sharing spoilers like that, you're going to have to start your own spoiler site and compete with me ... and I don't want you to do that, because you'll kick my ass.
I know that some want to say that Aaron just didn't know it hadn't been released yet, and to be honest, that could be true. There was a lot of last-minute editing on that mid-season finale, and one of the things that was removed was the reveal of the final Cylon, something we reported on in the past (I would link to it, but I'm being lazy ... this column already is two days late!) and it's possible that with that, some of the other elements that Aaron was talking about could've been originally a part of the episode.
Or maybe after filming so many episodes, you don't really remember what has aired or what has not aired. However, this isn't the first time Aaron has been known to share spoilers ...
Either way, thanks, Aaron. It's nice to be able to talk about "Battlestar" again, and you planted the seeds for all of us to do so. I think that's why fans like you so much, and it's well deserved.
SyFy Radio
Next week we welcome Shalim Ortiz, who played Alejandro in the second season of "Heroes" before being killed off by Sylar.
After that, it's Patrick Lee, the editor-in-chief of SciFi Wire, and then it's Rae, our favorite TV Whore (hey, that's her name, not mine!).
Also, we may have another visit from the Wii Fit, as he continues his campaign to make my life miserable.
Make sure you listen each and every week!
