Welcome Necronomicon visitors!

New faces pop in from recent science fiction writers convention in Tampa

Welcome to Airlock Alpha!

My name is Michael Hinman, and I am the news editor and co-owner of this site. I hail from Tampa, Fla., near the home of this year's Necronomicon 2001 in Brandon.

Airlock Alpha is just a few months old, and was formed last summer after a merger between SyFy World (owned by myself) and Star Trek Portal (owned by Greg Boubel in Minnesota). Both sites had been on the net for about three years, and both had major readership followings.

The merger created this all new site with state-of-the-art design and the best news coverage of all your favorite science fiction properties like "Star Trek: Nemesis," "Enterprise," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Farscape," "Dark Angel," "The X-Files," "Roswell," "Angel," "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda" and so much more!

We also provide a complete Star Trek and "Andromeda" episode database, as well as your favorite facts and figures from the Star Trek world. We also provide a great bulletin board community, which we hope you will stop by and visit.

Airlock Alpha is normally updated twice daily, and information is pulled from a number of great existing Web sites and print publications, as well as Airlock Alpha's very own sources. Airlock Alpha also is home to some great interviews, and there are some future ones you definitely want to look forward to.

If you are not aware of it already, I am a guest at this year's Necronomicon, and I am taking part in a few panels over the weekend. Friday at 4 p.m., I'll be discussing "What's New in Television and Movies." On Saturday at 4 p.m., I'll be discussing "On The Fringe" while on Sunday, I'll be appearing on two panels: 11 a.m. "TV, Movies and the Internet" (with "Farscape's" Virginia Hey), and 1 p.m. "Fan Favorite Web Sites."

Check your Necronomicon schedule for more details, or visit the Necronomicon Web site at www.stonehill.org/necro.htm.

Once again, thank you for making the trip to Airlock Alpha, and please let me know you were here! Drop me an e-mail at michael@airlockalpha.com and make sure you look for me this weekend at Necronomicon!
