Final 10 'Battlestar' Episodes Could Be Longer
Forget about those one-hour timeslots on SciFi Channel. That is if your name is "Battlestar Galactica."
Executive Producer David Eick told SciFi Wire at Comic-Con that the network has given them the greenlight to extend episodes they want to extend, and make sure every minute the writers and producers want to include in the final episodes are there.
"Our episodes are always ... long, and we're constantly getting into the editing room with 10, 15, sometimes 20 minutes of material that you can't get into an episode," Eick said.
Because of that, SciFi Channel is allowing producers to take "single episodes and make them double episodes" and turn double episodes into "quadruple episode," he said.
"The story has become so critical in order to realize the arc of the series that we can't just cut stuff out and save it for later or push it 'till next year, the stuff we're used to doing," Eick said. "It's all got to be there."
Rumors already have been afoot that the final episode would be three hours long, but Eick didn't confirm any of that.
