The planned "Battlestar Galactica" telemovie from writer Jane Espenson looks to not only take on a fresh story from the BSG mythos, but could have fresh faces as well.
In a recent interview with Galactica.TV expected to be posted in the near future, "Battlestar Galactica" producer Michael Rymer said that the telemovie could have more of a focus on new characters than "Razor" did, leading some to speculate that it may be yet another spinoff possibility to join "Caprica."
And speaking of "Caprica," which is now confirmed to be 51 years before the attack on the Twelve Colonies featured in the Rymer-directed miniseries pilot of "Battlestar Galactica," he won't be involved. Instead, Rymer already is moving on to other projects that include a possible movie of the comic book series "Witchblade."
Rymer didn't leave before the actual series work of "Battlestar Galactica" was finished however, according to Galactica.TV, and had helped confirm that the final episode will be three hours long. He described the episode as executive producer and writer Ronald D. Moore's "best work" so far, and exceeded expectations, especially since many on the cast and crew were worried that the episode would not live up to the hype.
"Battlestar Galactica" returns with its final episodes in January, while "Caprica" in some form or another is expected to launch later this fall. SciFi Channel executives said they still were not sure if they would release "Caprica" as a telemovie, or launch it as part of a full first season.
