Speculations on the Web have been running rampant about director McG's upcoming film "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins." But could it be that the surprise ending has been spoiled?

Not so, says McG.

At least two different Web sites had been reporting claims they know the ending to the movie and that Terminator fans may hate it so much that they would "terminate" any chance of a sequel.

The movie, which stars Christian Bale ("Batman Begins") as John Connor, will finally show us the battle for the future. The plan is for this film to be the first of a trilogy. Set before 2029, in the days before Skynet develops the T-800, "there are Hydrobots that patrol the water, Transports that move human prisoners around, Harvesters that collect human beings as lab rats for Skynet and Aerostats that survey all that is going on with the resistance the world over," wrote McG on his production blog.

Instead of the T-800, the film will have the T-600, which are "the bigger, grimier, nastier version that preceded the T-800." These Terminators are eight-foot tall machines packing min guns that (from how McG makes them sound) would make a Cylon Centurion pee its circuits.

Fans are also not thrilled about the rumored PG-13 rating, worrying that it would hurt the film. McG promises that it won't compromise the film, by pointing to "Batman Begins" as an example.

"We have entertained the idea of a PG-13 rating largely because Batman Begins, in my opinion, was made compromise-free. So we'll see. The movie comes first and it will be protected at all times," wrote McG.

So, is there really any truth to these rumors about the ending?

"There are only three people who know the ending. The unknown future rolls toward us," wrote McG.

"Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" stars Christian Bale as John Connor, Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, and Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright. The film currently has a planned release date of May 22, 2009.
