Michael Ausiello Moving To Entertainment Weekly

He might not be a science-fiction star or big-time producer, but when it comes to entertainment reporting, there are few other stars like Michael Ausiello.

And after eight years with TV Guide, Ausiello is packing up shop and making the jump over to Entertainment Weekly as a new columnist for the magazine.

The announcement was made Thursday by Rick Tetzeli, managing editor of the magazine that is part of the Time Inc. media empire.

"Michael is a first-rate journalist," Tetzeli said in a release. "His extraordinary combination of hard work, obsessive intensity and friendly persuasion are a perfect fit for Entertainment Weekly. The EW.com audience has an insatiable appetite for all things television and Michael will certainly further our readers' desire for ongoing coverage of their favorite shows."

Ausiello has been with TV Guide since 2000, and in recent years provided not only some of the industry's best scoopage, but also wrote popular weekly online columns "Ask Ausiello" and "The Ausiello Report."

It is unclear, however, whether or not Tetzeli will allow Ausiello to bring his vast Smurf collection to its New York offices.

Ausiello starts at the magazine July 2.

Entertainment Weekly has a circulation of 1.7 million subscribers and more than 12 million readers.
