It's Alive! 'Star Trek: The Tour' To Return

There hasn't been a lot of chatter about "Star Trek: The Tour" recently, but not because of a lack of interest.

Last week, the tour was supposed to debut in San Diego, but apparently fans thought there might be something wrong with the transporters. Instead, it seems that a more modern-day obstacle plagued the tour: good ol' Ben Franklins.

After an extended stay on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Calif., officials locked up the tour, not allowing it to leave until it paid some $200,000 that it still owed.

The money, which was for food, lodging and security, apparently was owed by the company that owned The Tour, SEE Touring Productions, according to The District Weekly.

"THere is still a lot of equipment over there because [if] we let them take the equipment, then we don't have anything to hold over them," a source told the publication. "It is not a pleasant situation as I understand it."

Since then, SEE Touring has sold The Tour to a new company, Plainfield Asset Management out of Greenwich, Conn. The company, as its name says, is an investment firm that typically provides capital to companies and individuals.

With that, the tour is now moving on, and presumably resuming its tour. Equipment is expected to be moved out by June 6, but it's not clear where it's going next. With a new company comes a new promoter.

The tour started in January, and was originally supposed to go 40 cities with Long Beach being its first stop. It appears that San Diego is next, even if it's a little late.
