This story contains MINOR SPOILERS for the upcoming fifth season of SciFi Channel?s "Stargate: Atlantis."
Wraith, body snatching and a spot of gambling ... fans will certainly have a lot to look forward to as "Stargate: Atlantis" makes its fifth season debut.
Series producers have confirmed that several major plot twists are in the works for the upcoming season and some of those will resonate with several of the shows main players. The biggest development will be that of Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) who sat out a lot of the fourth year due to her real life pregnancy. In the new episodes, not only will Teyla give birth to her child, but she will also get closer to her Wraith side after communing with a Wraith Queen.
The aftermath of that contact will activate her Wraith genetics and will become a host to the Wraith Queen. Luttrell herself has confirmed that she will appear in full Wraith makeup to become "the leader of an alliance of Wraith."
In addition, Jason Momoa will have some dark stories in front of him as his character Ronon Dex is captured by a returning group of Wraith worshippers. Apparently, the actor found the episode the most fun he has ever had as an actor and releases all of his pent up rage ... onto Col. Sheppard (Joe Flanigan).
Flanigan himself has hinted that fans will get to see some more Earth-bound stories (presumably with some light hearted notes) as the cast get a chance to hit sin city. For the 100th episode, "Stargate: Atlantis" will let its cast loose in Las Vegas for an episode that may involve the Replicators.
The upcoming season will also see a few other changes, including Woolsey taking over control of the city and Dr. Keller's (Jewel Staite) promotion to a series regular.
"Stargate: Atlantis" returns to SciFi Channel in July.
